I always loved being coached, but it wasn't until I started asking Dan in our one-to-one sessions to help me approach one of my senior leaders who had a tendency to act on negative assumptions, that I realized I might have what it takes to coach the leaders on my executive team. The program helped me solidify my conviction for coaching. Now that I have retired from my CEO position, I am pursuing formal coach training and plan on using my new skills in the DEI and social justice work in the nonprofit sector

My energy has always been my secret weapon until I seemed to hit a ceiling. In the program, when we were working on finding the signal in the noise, I began to realize that I could and should modulate my energy to broaden my rapport and allow others more room in the conversations. The program blew my mind. I learned how to help the members of my senior team to get clear about what they wanted to achieve and then to clear the obstacles on their way to personal and professional growth.

I have an analytical mind, which makes it easy to slip into skepticism. But I could not resist being with a group of accomplished people who were willing to go all in to learn a new skill later in life. Learning that I could actually put my judgment aside, and screw-up my curiosity as a means of stimulating a more open relationship with others was my big takeaway. I am becoming increasingly comfortable not having all the answers all the time.

Dan is a world-class business leader and executive coach. Equally as noteworthy, he is an all around wonderful human being who cares so deeply about the success of those he mentors you would think they were his own family. It has been a pleasure to be (and continue being) in Dan's Vistage group, both in a business and personal sense. He has a truly novel way of looking at things and adds unique insight into any situation that comes from his decades of experience.
